Parul (Agarwal) Mittal, an alumna of Lady Irwin School is the author of national bestseller novel “Heartbreaks & Dreams! – The Girls @ IIT”. Her second book “Arranged Love” captured the hearts of Indian youth. She has just released her third novel Let's Have Coffee with Rupa Publications.

Apart from reading and writing fiction, the author loves listening to old Hindi music, playing board games, painting, trekking and lawn tennis. 

She did her BTech. in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi in 1995, followed by Masters in Computer Science from UMich, Ann Arbor. She has worked in the corporate world (Hughes, IBM Research, Nextag, Yatra) for over thirteen years. She co-founded an online parenting website called RivoKids. At present she is running recreational math camps for kids and trying to find her FLOW.

Born and brought up in Delhi, she did her schooling at Lady Irwin School, New Delhi and Navrachna School, Baroda. She is married to Alok Mittal and has two amazing daughters - Smiti and Muskaan.

The Lady Irwin School for Girls was established in 1927, under the leadership of the late Shri S. R. Das, the Law Member of the Viceroy's Executive Council, for the purpose of making education available under the same roof to all the children of Central Government servants. MOUNTAINEER, MS. BHARATI BANERJEE OF LADY IRWIN SCHOOL

Ms. Bharati Banerjee, Faculty at Lady Irwin School, New Delhi was a member of the all-women Mountaineering Expedition Team of 1970 that successfully scaled the Hanuman Tibba Peak (5928 m - 19450 feet ) on October 5, 1970. The expedition was led by M.C. Usha. The other members were Sudha Talwar and Sherpa Lobsang.  Bharati Banerjee (centre) of Lady Irwin School was a member of the Hanuman Tibba Expedition that successfully climbed the 19450 feet high Himalayan Peak. The expedition was successful even though it met with bad weather all along. LADY IRWIN SCHOOL- THE SCHOOL BUILDINGS

The High School Building, still looks  the same as it did decades ago. The signage is gone though! The High School Building still looks the same as anyone in living memory can remember. The Middle School was housed in one of the Army Barracks (also constructed in the British times) on Canning Lane, located right across what was then known as 'Pataudi House'. The Middle school building has since been demolished. The school address always included the line: Canning Lane, Near Curzon Road! Canning Lane is now known as Madhav Rao Scindia Road. Curzon Road is Kasturba Gandhi Marg! The 'new' Middle School is now housed in a building adjacent to the school Gymnasium, which was once the heartbeat of the school.
