MOUNTAINEER, MS. BHARATI BANERJEE OF LADY IRWIN SCHOOL
Ms. Bharati Banerjee, Faculty at Lady Irwin School, New Delhi was a member of the all-women Mountaineering Expedition Team of 1970 that successfully scaled the Hanuman Tibba Peak (5928 m - 19450 feet ) on October 5, 1970. The expedition was led by M.C. Usha. The other members were Sudha Talwar and Sherpa Lobsang. Bharati Banerjee (centre) of Lady Irwin School was a member of the Hanuman Tibba Expedition that successfully climbed the 19450 feet high Himalayan Peak. The expedition was successful even though it met with bad weather all along.
